Veiled Voices – Retaining Written Evidence

Recently I have been led to think about those who have recorded their thoughts on faith in previous generations and cultures.
A part of this leading has been the periodic tweets that I have been posting to Facebook written by elder statesmen and giants of another era.  Another was a Facebook post from Canberra Declaration it went in part like this;
“As we search for fig leaves, excuses and biological causations to avoid moral responsibility, we must never lose sight of layers laid upon layers. Decisions of yesterday laid the foundations for today; today decisions lay the foundations for tomorrow. The wise handle their humanity with care.  Canberra Declaration on Facebook
The third part was that unknown to anyone I had started transcribing notes from my own dad’s writing.  Then my mum brought down some other material that he had written.  I hope that his will be a leading resource for this blog initially but am yet to read what I have been given.
While desiring to honour my father’s writing he would be the first to decry such an honour.  He wrote, and did radio presentations, with the explicit motivation to point to the Lord Jesus.  He was not an apologist or educated to any level at all but when he got the call Christ Jesus was his only thought and the reason for what he did.
Others too will also be featured in Veiled Voices.  My intent is to point again to the Christ.  I hope to do this by highlighting some issue that is in the authors writing.  It is important that we return periodically to reinforce truth, or to prevent the erosion of truth as a result of social pressure.
The reason we have a written record of God’s dealings with mankind is that people throughout history have valued the Bible sufficiently to keep a two thousand year old collection of writings alive and to maintain them when necessary.  I do not see myself as one of these scholars, just a simple servant committed to the preservation of faith in community.  The writer of the Letter to the Hebrews after a chapter of faith referees writes in chapter 12
1Such a large crowd of witnesses is all around us! So we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially the sin that just won't let go. And we must be determined to run the race that is ahead of us. 2We must keep our eyes on Jesus, who leads us and makes our faith complete.
So I hope this will be honouring to Him who is our reason for living and that this blog may point the way to truth in Christ.  I hope also that it may encourage thought about what is core to our faith and inspire others to strengthen their faith defence .
